February- A Poem

Ok......you'll probably choke while reading this so please swallow your food first. I wrote this poem for Blue Angel Poet Society. Every Sunday night Persephone Phoenix opens Blue Angel to poetry reading..and then there is a challenge poem. Where a word or phrase is tossed out and those inclined write a poem right then and there and deliver it. (example: Things That Go Bump In The Night ---if you want me to blog that one someday let me know)

But the challenge a week or so ago was simply the word FEBRUARY

February
Somewhere between
The month of Alcoholics,
Red Pyscho-delics
False Love
Conception
Deception
February
Caught alone...........
After the Holidays,
Before Spring dawns
February
From which the,
"winter of our discontent"
Lingers
Fingers numb....
The homeless distraught
February
Thanksfully March's parades
wait closely by
anxious for that short month to end,
and bring the Spring
AGAIN
---------------
End

Going Back

What are the best sims? And how often do you go back to see what has happened? What sims are gone forever that you miss?

What are the worst sims? Do you ever go back just to laugh?

There are so many great sims. I revisted several recently (though there are many more I would like to). House of Tunes (where the great blues museum resides) is a wonderful sim to explore. I've talked about this is a recent blog (of the soccer field, museum, race track) but I didn't mention the wonderful beach parties, great hang outs and of course the original House of Tunes musical revue and dance hall. Interesting as well is that you cannot travel around the island in water. (try it)

Then of course there is Light Waves Hallucigens which interestingly has only 2,700 prim used out of 15,000. There isn't much new here but it worth seeing it at many different times of day. Obviously midnight is the preferred first visit. This 'myst' inspired sim is worth the return trip.

Dancoyote Antonelli sim is always a pleasure to go back and understand the originality and artistic endeavor he has accomplished. (Of course I've mentioned before....don't miss his SkyDancer performances.) But, in regards to the sim, I find I forget something learned by one piece and find myself enjoying more fully another. It is best to visit alone since each person tends to move through this sim at their own pace.

Ha, yeah, Privateer which is Aley Arai sim is always changing. She deletes builds and then puts up something different. It is never the same but always a challenge to your senses. Try this time to visit the new floor where there is a courtroom, prisoner visits, prisoner medical facilities etc. What's gone is gone so either you will miss it or you never knew it existed.

The newer sim Glam for shopping is a pleasure to walk around. I don't fly or cam when a sim invites you to explore. There are some gifted clothes makers on Glam and it all ties together for a wonderful day of shopping.

We will all miss Last Call on Dazzle but there are still the other shops (ETD, CS etc)

I haven't been back to Straylight nor many other favorite sims and there are places I forget since I delete old stuff so when I return it's new to me again. I would mention visiting Ivy Falls new sim but then that would be sort of tooting my own horn since Rekka Berchot is my manager and booking agent.

Love to all of you. Tell me your favorite. (Oh, ugly sims.......hehe...so many I'd prefer to hear your picks.)

Search and Not Found

Well, everyone knows this but no one really talks about it. We just go about laughing quietly to ourselves or aggravated when it's important to us.

Laughing - you have a friend and you know their first name but only have an idea of their last name. Wildcard? Not! Wild ride? Yep! So you type in the first name and a string comes up (let's say their name is Ima Yugo) you will find tons of Ima's but not one Yugo. However, if you remember the name and type it in, it's there. But it is never there when you can't remember it. How are these selected? Do the Lindens have records of whom we know and have created this wonderful algorithm called RAT?

Aggravated - You know the name of a store you want to go to. Something you want badly and you want it now. You type in the name (Last Call, Xcite, etc) and never does that store show up. Doesn't matter how popular the store is (see two mentioned even though Last Call is closing). So, you try to remember the sim name. In a frustrating moment your arms wave and you glass of water spills over your keyboard and your problem is solved.

Finally, I am a little slow on this blog and a bit short since I've been sick. Nothing critical, instead this lasting cough, flu, misery. Also packing and moving in firstlife. Working on the production we are doing in SecondLife called IN THE PINK. Getting ready for 4 shows this week and working in FirstLife. Oops....no excuses....see you all soon.

Upon A Star

How easy to miss your wish because someone else says it can't come true. Same holds within our world. I dub them all, "The Complainers" and I have met them in both worlds. So, instead of dwelling on their point of view let's take a chance on ourselves.

Not every twist in the road is an adversity. Actually, hardly any are. So, in firstworld if you've left your cell phone and have to go back, instead of cursing your supposed misfortune consider perhaps you avoided a disaster by the delay. (hehe....you'll be so surprised how often you will recognize the positive reason once you accept that it is)

In SecondLife we crash and instead of complaining, laugh and remember the times you crashed when you were actually hoping to leave an endless conversation. A dress disappears from inventory, stop and smile as you wonder, "who is wearing it?"

Ok, I'm not just this ditsy blond, all smiles and chocolate. And, I understand how many of you struggle in firstlife with simply paying the electric bill. And, I also am aware that some of you simply struggle desperately in your current relationships. But, I do believe we have a choice, that as I talked before about, 'pursuit of happiness'.

Anyhow, some of the truly depressing things in SecondLife are all the prim skirts that look good on the wall and then look like crap on. Those you can't modify are a waste. Those you can modify usually are a waste. The other day I gathered up all my badly fitting prim skirts, the tshirts unused, the shoes that looked comical, the skins that never fit, the panties that fit only to well as far as the opposite sex is concerned and brought them to SL Goodwill. (hehe...you are now wondering where this is and will I give you the LM to this place is. Well, I'm not .)

Just remember, there's no horse manure in SL.

Thoughts From Around Our Universe

Griefers----What an interesting thought. Griefers just want to have fun.Or so they say. From all I've read about them they feel a wonderful exhilaration from disrupting other Secondlifers pleasure. So, what I don't understand is if they find that so pleasurable then conversely if someone came to them in FirstLife , held them down, cut off their leg and held it up laughing they would laugh too. Right? I mean you really can't say you are a griefer unless you desire a tit for tat. And since their fun includes hurting unknown citizens they really are digital suicide bombers. So, if their children, animals, parents and friends were blown away by an act of violence they would celebrate. Right? Am I missing something here? I mean a griefer wouldn't want things to be one sided. They are to intelligent and therefore understand the principle of a seesaw. They enjoy the two way street or else they would just grief themselves.

Campers - How many of them are there? How much money have all campers earned during the life of our universe? Who is the best camper? Who has the most alts camping? Do campers have friends in SL? Do they IM them while camping? What is the longest single camp? Is camping so addicting they don't ever go out and see their digital world? Do campers still look for money trees? Also, why would campers wear clothes that aren't free?

Gor - so many people seem upset with the idea of Gor but in our free world those who go there do so by their own volition. Now I've met many SL'ers that have tried to rescue goreans. They really don't need rescue. They are no more in trouble then someone playing Halo. (omg...my stupid spell check is trying to make me spell goreans as Koreans. Someday all people will listen to their spell check doing 'autocorrect' and the entire thought process of the earth will shift and instead of life in the key of C it will be in B flat.
